Odins GuideResearch Hunting Dogs Starting villagers and ox cart to food (preferably hunting) Send any domestic animals (goats,pigs,cows) to your starting hunting. Cast Great hunt on youron your hunting and domestic animals. Starting Ulf build house and scout (Start Temple at approx 3:30) Villagers to Gold Cart to Gold Villager to Wood Villager to food Dwarf to Gold 3 Villagers to food Dwarf to gold 2 Villagers to food 2 Dwarves to gold Move Villagers on gold to wood Cart to wood 3 Villager to wood 2 Dwarves to gold Advance to Classical Age thorugh Freyja. If done correctly you should hit classical at approx 5:25-5:30. You should have 8 on food, 6 on gold, and 5 on wood. You can take away 1 gold and 1 wood and advance at 5:00. just to warn anyone who reads this and wants to try it, know that odin is the hardest civ out of the three norse gods. if you plan on raiding, i would go thor instead cuz of his uber-easy bo. odin i think is better for FH and a slow raid, but if you want to learn to mass-raid and rush and win sea, go thor. loki and thor pwn odin on meddy. plus, thor can 4:04 on meddy ftw against greeks. the thing about odin is that there are a million modifications one can make in his BO. so if you mess up in archaim just rearrange based on how many you have on food. remember that you can win easily in classical with only 7 on food, seeing as odin hunts faster.
if you are vs a thor on tundra, you are noob if you dont win. use 7 on food and take forward hunt, go 4 on wood and 3 dwarves + 2 vils for gold and up early (like 4:45 or something), definately under 5 mins. go 3 brax with 2 of them running raiders/ulfs (your choice, if he has a forward base go ulfs) and the other que TA and hersir at the temple. i would send valykree early over to flame his trees because tundra trees run out by heroic and he'll have 0 wood if he makes 3 brax and starts in on TA production. then find his food. you dont need valykree to win as long as you micro. if his army is bigger than yours, all you have to do is know which unit he's making more of (raiders, for example) that are costly in food, counter them, and then hit his ox cart with your myth unit, causing him to retreat or fight you with vils (in which case, kill as many as you can, or pull him over near wood and FF). the thing with norse is that you run out of food uber quick if you have 3 brax going + temple. 20 seconds of idle vils can cost you the game, so beware of marsh boars.
vs a greek i would use the 5:30 BO mentioned above and heavy raid, but if he has hoplites grab a forward tc so he'll boom you. then go heroic with frost and kill 1/2 of his army, while spamming frost giants ftw!!
vs eggy, odin blows. i would cut off gold as fast as possible vs a ra. lol, you'll learn the hard way if you let him boom for more than 10 mins, cuz then he'll fast-trade and merc spam u when u attack, so he'll just go mythic and pwn you with ease. with isis, you'll loose if you dont attack early, or do a 7:14 FH with njord. whenever ur vs an isis, make sure you have plently of hersirs for a/e protection. if he does manage to adv and ur in and around his town, i suggest you force him to use the a/e and run TO THE SIDE of his base and around trees so the Anc chase you. dont run to a forward base you have unless theres a tc near it. by around 8:30-9 mins stop food production and adv. if your game animals is running out, take out danger hunt, such as lions and hiyennes and up from there (crocs have a lot of food!). i would go with some huskies to eliminate some of his archers (note that isis usually only has enough wood for 5 archers and/or 2 seige towers, then the production slows). if you dont play smart and micro well, you will loose the game. do not, under any circumstance, boom vs an isis or wou will loose miserably. the best game ive played with odin was on watering hole vs a 1700 isis. i raided gold in tc, and forced a couple priests, and got lucky to find food early. then i followed his food with my ulf and built little walls on top of his elephants/hippos he killed to make them DISAPPEAR. then he got up heroic and used a/e quick when i heavey raided his gold. then what i did was grabed 2 of his tcs at once (i had tons of wood and gold and 200 food) so that he had limited options in heroic with pop. then in 2 mins i was ready for heroic. i hadnt upgraded any armory/units so i got copper weaponds and shields and lamed a hillfort right next to his base, just out of his migdol range. he had to let me build it cuz i was raiding his archers. he switched to camels and i returned the favor by making ulfsarks. i just went head on and took down the migdol with frost giant spam, while patrolling gold sites with 3 raiders + valykree (priests would kill her in a battle, so i used her LOS to my advantage). he quit when his migdol was down and i found his gold (he had lik 20 vils on it so obviously he had no other gold options). believe it or not, i had like 20 of every recourse cuz i was pressuring hard and trying to farm at the same time. my herdables ran out and i moved all food to wood and tried to farm it out, and of course i look at my lazy vils and theres my 20 gold dwarves just sitting there. it was a gg played by me, prolly 1750+
and lastly, vs atty, go early up before 5 mins and go raiders + hersir and a couple TA and rush him. yes, i said rush the atty. he'll 4:30 and gold starve you, if he knows what he's doing. PRAY that he tries to 2 tc boom, cuz then you can just rip his economy apart and run him dry of food. note that when at atty 2 tc booms, he has atty vils pumped from both tcs, which is extremely costly with food. so he'll make limited murms and lots of turma and some charas, which, if you get pierce ups, will crumble vs a raiding calv army of 10. find his food! and you'll win easily. if you are over confident on your odin skill, you can win easily with a good njord FH so thats another option (thats all i used to do vs atty, cept kronos). o yes that reminds me, kronos might give you trouble if he krushes. im not that familiar with micro for odin vs a 5 vil krush, so i would go 4:10 adv and go with lots of hersirs. watch your food cuz is he finds it you will DIE. and try and build around your gold and keep exploring far corners of the map for hidden mines he wont bother exploring. let the prom kill your towers cuz u need that time to make brax. i always temple somewhere in the back of my base so i wont loose it to his gp, which sucks cuz then hersirs have to walk far. i make him waste dec. by building a brax obviously close to his counterbrax so he'll feel threatened. with a 4:10 u have like 2-3 vils on wood so thats enough for 2 brax and some houses at max, so dont go TA (they are usless in a krush and a waste of gold). now, if you ahave a lot of food comming in from a nice deer/elk/hippo pack, DONT CYCLE DWARVES LIKE YOU NORMALLY DO. instead, cycle vil/dwarf to gold, or just vil. it wouldnt be a bad ide to cycle just vils to herdables and forget gold (5 dwarves and 3 vils can be enough). this will make him think that thats where ur food is.
